NTAD has successfully gained planning approval for a new dwelling located adjacent to the cricket ground in Wiveliscombe, Somerset. The site occupies a corner of a paddock which is included within the Wiveliscombe Site Allocations and Development management Plan for the future construction of 80 dwellings. During the planning determination process the original 1.5 storey design was reduced to a single storey design in order to minimise its impact on the potential 80 dwelling development and gain a planning approval as quickly as possible.

The dwelling has been specifically designed to provide flexible living accommodation on a tight budget. The floor plan and wider door openings enable easy modification to wheelchair use in the future. The loft space can also be easily adapted for conversion to habitable accommodation.

The traditional form is broken down into three elements, the main body of the house, a link entrance which connects to a single garage. The design is inspired by the gables of the adjacent bungalow. The new dwelling includes minimalist detailing to the wall and roof junction to create a clean and simple aesthetic. Materials will include natural slate, white render, oak cladding, galvanised rainwater goods and light grey windows and doors to compliment the neighbouring dwelling.
