Planning approval granted for a farmhouse extension & car port

The part two-storey and single storey extension will be clad in natural slate to the roof and walls creating a crisp and contemporary finish using traditional materials. The windows will be framed with Corten sheet steel formed to create a protruding edge which will change to a rust colour as it patinates, the orangey brown is inspired by the farmhouse stone walls.

The original concept included a fully glazed ground floor, however this design element had to be paired back due to concerns over lightspill into the dark sky reserve. We explored various louvres and window tints which would have potentially resolved the issue but it was decided for budget reasons to simplify the design and reduce the glazing.
